West Mountain
One of the closest mountains to the Capital Region, West Mountain is an ideal place for all winter activities! With numerous special events all year long, like summer mountain biking, yoga, and their annual fall festival, they are a wonderful part of our community! They offer equipment rentals, tubing, daily lessons, after school programs, and access to over two dozen trails. Less than an hour from Albany, West Mountain is the perfect choice for a day trip.
Gore Mountain:
Gore Mountain is a great place for a day of hitting the slopes or a long weekend getaway! Boasting dozens of trails ranging in difficulty level with tons relaxation options, it’s the perfect way to spend a winter day! About an hour and a half from the Capital Region, it’s close enough for a day trip. Rent your equipment there or bring your own! After spending a few hours hitting the slopes, take a beat in one of their five on-mountain restaurants.
Whiteface
With the greatest vertical drop in the East, Whiteface Mountain is a dream for avid skiers and snowboarders! Whiteface has 90 trails spanning over 25 miles and three peaks! Trails range from easy to expert only, so even if you require a bunny slope, you’ll find one you enjoy here. Fun fact, you can have your wedding or a special event at Whiteface!
Killington
Killington is an famous ski mountain roughly two hours from the Capital Region in Vermont! Offering scenic gondola rides, snowshoe tours, snowmobile tours, tubing, and of course dozens of incredible trails for skiing and snowboarding, Killington is perfect for a weekend getaway! Spend your days on the slopes and your nights at the Killington Grand Spa and have a delicious dinner at one of their many dining locations!
Willard
Only 45 minutes from the Albany area, Willard is a smaller scale mountain perfect for a day of winter fun! With easy and difficult slopes, Willard is great for beginners and experts alike. They also have dedicated tubing slopes and a learning center! Perfect for a day trip or even an afternoon or morning, Willard is a great place in the Capital Region to enjoy the snow.
