Green Building Initiatives

Each community has taken on these efforts in order to minimize the environmental impact of our properties.

Green Living Apartments in Albany, NY

Burns Management is committed to providing eco-friendly environments for our residents and staff throughout our over 25 communities in the Capital Region. Through our approach with energy reduction, recycling efforts, and water conservation we are able to maintain cleaner grounds and air.

Our initiatives and efforts to go green stem far and wide throughout our communities. Efforts start within our offices, which have gone paperless by offering electronic leases and documents and extending to our annual energy audits. Each year an engineering firm performs an audit for our luxury apartment communities to ensure the most energy-efficient technology is being utilized. These areas include, but are not limited to, lighting fixtures, air sealing, water use reduction methods, LED bulbs, and replacements of infrastructures.

On a larger scale, communities such as Heritage Village complete a Multi-Family Performance Program. To date, boilers have been replaced in 36 of their buildings in order to reduce gas usage for heat and hot water. The updated boilers also include demand sensing pumps that will help reduce overall energy usage.

Many of the apartments within our communities are equipped with Energy Star® rated appliances, ceiling fans, and HVAC upgrades to coincide with our green living values and initiatives. Our Smart Communities, Excelsior Park Apartment Homes,  Schuyler Commons, Town Center On Twenty, and Broadway 385, also include programmable thermostats and lighting that can be controlled by our residents’ smartphone! Occupancy sensors have also been included in specific rooms to reduce energy consumption.

Our efforts aren’t stopping any time soon, several of our communities will also feature electronic vehicle charging stations.

Each community has taken on these efforts in order to minimize the environmental impact of our properties. To learn more about our communities and the efforts we make to go green, contact us today to schedule a tour!
