Tips to Making Your Apartment Cheerful and Cozy!

March 1, 2023 in Apartment Tips, Burn's Apartments, Capital Region Living, General

A cheerful and cozy apartment is the perfect way to combat the cold Upstate NY winter weather! Your home should be your indoor oasis and should bring you and everyone who steps inside peace and comfort. If you’re in need of some inspiration, check out our top tips for making your apartment cheerful and cozy below.

Colors

The colors that surround you can have a significant impact on your mood and can help to brighten up any room. Choosing lively colors like oranges, yellows, reds or pinks will instantly brighten up your space. If you prefer a softer, more subtle pop of color, add in some pastels! A great way to add color to your life is to find artwork that you love! Spruce up the walls of your apartment with classic paintings or prints that speak to you.

Area Rug

Area rugs are a great way to bring warmth to your space and help to create a focal point or section off your living area. Not only do they actually help to keep your room warmer, but they are also significantly cozier than hardwood or tile flooring! Rugs also provide you with another opportunity to add pops of color to your room.

Accent Throws and Pillow

Adding in fluffy pillows and throw blankets can soften up your space! We love having a gorgeous throw folded across the couch for ease of use, and of course accent pillows that add comfort and coziness to your living room.

Lighting

While we love natural lighting, adding in some table or floor lamps can help to create a cozier ambience. Don’t forget to try out different lightbulbs as that can make a significant difference! We also love the look of LED strips. These can be used to add extra lighting to unique spaces and can be a fantastic way to warm up your space.

Plants

Not only does having plants give your apartment a fresh and beautiful look, but studies have also shown that having greenery in your living space can boost your mood and decrease feelings of anxiety! One of our favorite choices is an Aloe Vera plant. They are low-maintenance and have an added benefit of providing aloe. Check out our other favorite apartment plants in one of our previous blogs!

Pictures

A tried and true way to add some cheer to your apartment is to create a gallery wall with all of your favorite photos.  You can go for a matching and evenly spaced gallery wall or have some fun with it and find unique frames and a funky pattern. However you put them up, surrounding yourself with photos of happy memories is a sure way to add cheer to your space.
